Discount Teen Auto Insurance

Reader Question: How can I go about getting auto insurance for my 17 year old teen driver?

That is a great question you asked! Your 17-year-old teen driver, however is not legally considered an adult and is there fore not legally allowed to enter into a binding legal contract. Although your teen is old enough to drive a car on public streets….but not to sign on the dotted line.

I think most auto insurance providers would require a parent or legal gaurdian signature to bind the contract and to be financially responsible for the teen.

You should start your investigation by making a few phone calls to your local car insurance carriers for rate quotes and their opinion on this but I really don't see why you can not get coverage though. Are you going to be able to afford this coverage may be another issue all together.

You might also want to contact your state motor car insurance bureau or Department of Motor Vehicles and ask them what if any restrictions there could be for a 17 year old teen driver to obtain car insurance in your state. let me know if you do find discount student auto insurance …I need to start my search on this subject as well, since I have a 15 year old son who will soon be driving and need insurance as well.
