How To Save On Teenage Beginner Car Insurance Premiums
Reader asks: How does one go about getting car insurance for a beginner 17 year old teenage driver, without paying an arm and a leg?
I think this is one of the best questions to ask about your teen driver. A 17 year old teenage beginner driver, can not legally enter a binding contract since they are not considered an adult. Although I would guess that most teenage drivers are "good" drivers they are still not old enough to sign on the dotted line of the contract.
I would assume that most car insurance agencies would require a parent or legal gaurdian to sign the contract and to be financially responsible for the teenage driver.
If I were in your shoes I would start my investigation by making a few phone calls the local insurance carriers in my area and to get their opinion on this question. You can get a car insurance quote here.
But I really do not see why ou can not get coverage though for your teen beginner driver. Are you going to be able to afford this type of coverage? Now that is a tougher question to answer.
I would also contact the state insurance bureau or DMV to ask them if there are any restrictions for a beginner 17 year old driver to obtain car insurance in your state. I too will need to start my search for cheap teen car insurance as my 16 year old teenage son who will soon be driving and need car insurance as well. I could use a few suggestions on ways to save on car insurance premiums.
